Kim Yu

Kim Yu got her start in the entertainment industry after working as a freelance journalist in the late 1980’s. She then became a publicist handling both unit publicity and national marketing campaigns for various companies including C/FP where she was publicist on films such as "Reservoir Dogs", "Crying Game" and "Strictly Ballroom". She went to Norstar Entertainment where she was Director of Communications handling international marketing and corporate communications as well as domestic releases such as "Living in Oblivion", "Crumb", and "Safe" before becoming Vice President of Communications at Sullivan Entertainment. She still dabbles in public relations and publicity through her company, Blue Moon Communications, and is a member of IATSE 667.

Ms.Yu's production experience is predominantly in dramatic projects. Her first film, "Greener Fields", on which she served as Associate Producer, was the first Italian-Canadian co-production shot in Vancouver, Canada. She was Associate Producer on "Dead by Monday", a Swiss-Canadian co-production shot in Toronto where her responsibilities included day-to-day operations and overseeing the crew. Subsequent efforts starting in the late '90s saw Ms. Yu in more supervisory production roles where she oversaw the shoot, hired key crew and managed picture budgets ranging from $3mUSD to $15mUSD.

Ms. Yu was Production Supervisor on the feature films "Tangled" starring Rachel Leigh Cook, Shawn Hatosy and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and "Behind the Red Door" starring Keifer Sutherland, Kyra Sedgewick and Stockard Channing in 2001. Shortly thereafter, she worked as Supervising Producer on the cable features "Say Nothing" starring William Baldwin for HBO, "Phase IV" starring Dean Cain for the Sci-Fi Channel and "Big Spender" starring Casper Van Dien and Graham Greene for Animal Planet/Discovery Channel. She also was Director of Production and Programming at a national specialty network.

In late 2009, she produced a 13 episode half-hour drama series for Zalman King and Reel One Entertainment entitled "Body Language". The series aired on TMN/Showtime.

Most recently, she line produced an indie feature entitled "Victim" which is currently in post production. Ms. Yu also continues to volunteer her time as Managing Director of New York-based non-profit organization, Francesco Productions.
